In art theory, the workshop floor is often viewed as a palimpsest, a surface that has been written upon, erased, and rewritten many times.

Conceptually, the floor of an artist’s workshop is far more than just a structural surface; it is a chronological record, a palimpsest of process, and a physical extension of the canvas. The first conceptual project from Alta-////Visionaries captures this raw essence. It serves as the opening chapter in a 4 part exploration of the artist’s space, centering on the ground as the primary arena of creative work.

In this installation, the raw materiality of the stone provides a primal, immovable foundation, contrasting with the dynamic screen. Acting as both the experimental enhancer and the main character, the raw sound serves as the vital connective link of the piece. This auditory layer interacts directly with the
observer’s first point of physical contact, the floor.

By grounding the senses in both the tactile weight of the stone and the immersive resonance of sound, the project transforms the workshop floor into a living interface where the observer and the artist’s process finally meet.
